Cranberry Creek Gateway Site consists of 366 acres in a prime location – the intersection of Interstate 81 and State Route 924 in Hazle Township, at the entrance to the City of Hazleton and Borough of West Hazleton.
Restoration of Cranberry Creek itself is complete, as is the reclamation of mine-scarred lands on the site. This preliminary work cleared and substantially leveled the Cranberry Creek site, paving the way for the future development of the entire area.
Some of the projects that would fit the overall character of Cranberry Creek Gateway Site include:
Tens of thousands of people live in Greater Hazleton, and hundreds of thousands more pass the Cranberry Creek Gateway Site each year on Interstate 81. The proximity to both the local resident base and the passing traffic make the site ideal for development.
Some elements, such as roadways and utilities, will need to be established first during development of Cranberry Creek Gateway Site. Current plans include the installation of other infrastructure, including a water irrigation system, pond and stream alterations and combined sewage overflow lines.
