International Paper celebrates 40 years of operation in Humboldt Industrial Park
International Paper’s box plan in the Humboldt Industrial Park in Hazle Township recently marked its 40th year of operation. The facility opened on December 13, 1976 as an Inland Container plant.
CAN DO President Kevin O’Donnell said, “On behalf of everyone at CAN DO, I would like to congratulate International Paper on celebrating 40 years of operation in Hazleton. As one of Humboldt Industrial Park’s original companies, International Paper has been a great asset to Greater Hazleton and we look forward to having them be with us for many years to come.”
Student Action Committee hosts 24th annual CAN DO Community Christmas
Earlier this month, the CAN DO Student Action Committee hosted its 24th annual CAN DO Community Christmas at Christ Lutheran Church in Hazleton.
The free event was designed around a theme of “Come Celebrate the Arts” and featured musical performances by students in schools throughout Greater Hazleton, refreshments, a Letters to Santa table where children wrote their Christmas wishes and a visit from Santa Claus himself.
U.S. Dept. of Defense Office of Economic Adjustment and PA Department of Community & Economic Development sponsoring educational seminars and workshops
Several seminars and workshops designed to help businesses and industries contract with the state and federal governments and with contracts overseas will be offered in Hazle Township and Scranton during November. The presentations are sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense Office of Economic Adjustment and the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development through the Northeastern Pennsylvania Defense Transition Partnership. Additional sponsors include Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance, Northeastern Pennsylvania Industrial Resource Center, Manufacturers Resource Center, Small Business Development Center and Partnerships for Regional Economic Performance.
A workshop entitled “Proposal Writing Strategies and Tips” will be held at Genetti Catering, 1345 North Church Street, in Hazle Township. A Foreign Military Sales course will be offered at the Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel, 700 Lackawanna Avenue, in Scranton.
